The Boys and Girls Tennis Advisory Committee of the Illinois High School Association met on Wednesday, November 3 for its yearly meeting.
Among several discussion items, a Terms and Conditions recommendation regarding individual substitutions at the State Meet was acted on.
According to the new recommendation:
"Substitutions will be allowed for singles players who qualify for the State tournament. The player who lost to the injured player in the quarterfinals at the sectional will be the player who advances. A substitution may be made if (a) the Principal of the player’s school certifies in writing to her/his injury, illness, ineligibility or circumstances considered to be beyond the control of the student-athlete which shall include but are not limited to incapacitating physical or mental circumstances, natural disasters or clearly erroneous advice provided to the student-athlete from a school authority and (b) the substitute is eligible for State tournament play based on the IHSA By-Law requirements."
The recommendation was favored by the advisory committee 6-0.
