The 2011-12 high school sports season officially kicks off on Monday, August 15. That is the date in which the first high school sports contests can take place. Boys and Girls Golf begin their seasons on that date.
In the area, the Boylan Invitational kicks things off with all NIC-10 boys golf teams, including Rockford Lutheran, DeKalb and Arlington Heights St. Viator, teeing off at Ledges Golf Course in Roscoe. St. Viator is the defending team champion, winning in a tiebreaker over Harlem. Robert Dofflemyer of Belvidere, who will be a senior this coming year, is the defending individual champion. Patipan Pipatpinyopong of Harlem, who will also be a senior this coming year, was the individual champion two years ago.
Boylan is the defending JV champion, and the Titans' Ryan Barelli is the defending individual champion.
A few more golf meets are taking place on that Monday, but are outside of the area.
